My girl couldn’t tolerate chicken or turkey, so we switched her to a “novel” protein, one she hadn’t been exposed to. We ended up with venison, and recently added some lamb. I think she can tolerate salmon, but I’ve only tried it in treats, so she doesn’t get much of it. And, her favorite treat of all time is Cheerios. (Weird dog!!!) Frito’s Homemade Dog Food Venison, Lamb, Veggies, and Pasta, w/JFFD Supplement Makes about 14-15 lbs. 1-1/2 lb rotini pasta (not whole wheat)2 lbs. ground venison1 lb. ground lamb1-1/2 tsp ground cinnamon1-1/2 Tbsp ground ginger24 oz. butternut squash, frozen24 oz. brussels sprouts, frozen24 oz. green beans, frozen7 oz. (204 g) cranberries1/2 cup sunflower or safflower oil1-1/2 Tbsp. JFFD Turkey DIY Supplement Cook pasta in 2 batches for 10-12 min., until past al dente. Drain and cool. Mix all thoroughly, adding more water as needed, until well mixed and thick but still pourable. Spoon 1-1/4 lb of mixture into rectangular glass containers, using square container for any remaining. Put small container in refrigerator, and put the rest, two at a time, in the garage freezer. Stack carefully, making sure nothing is going to slide off. Prior to serving, defrost on small rack on counter for a few hours, then refrigerate. These directions are personalized for me, especially related to mixing bowl and container sizes. She’s now eating about 7-1/2 oz. per day, which for her is a miracle. So, a batch will probably last me 4-5 weeks.
