I rip my entire CD collection and a friend ones also years ago to FLAC with my Dell XPS desktop. A popular software is EAC. Here's a guide. EAC I use this very good for the price DAC plug into the Dell USB. Box up the CDs there is no different in quality. DAC

Can we assume that your budget is $700 like the Kanto RENs? Is this being used at a desktop? If the answer is yes, then I assume you don't really care about features like Bluetooth or HDMI ARC? If that is the case, I would strongly consider getting a pair of studio monitors instead. For example, a pair of Kali Audio LP-6 V2 would be incredible performers for the price: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LP6v2Pair--kali-audio-lp-6-v2-6.5-inch-powered-studio-monitor-pair-black They connect via analog RCA or XLR. So if you don't trust the performance of your computer's internal DAC, then you can get an extremely good basic external DAC and still come in under budget: https://www.amazon.com/S-M-S-L-MQA-CD-Decoder-AK4493S-768kHz/dp/B0C1Y7C9HH/

The Edifier QR65 were not well received. See this thread, for example. I have no personal experience with those speakers, but tend to agree with u/washoutr6 's comment from the linked thread: 2.75" drivers tells you everything you need to know. Sound waves are big, you are not going to get big sound out of small speakers. The fashion is small so companies are hyping all these small products, but this is physics, you need bigger drivers. What's your budget looking like? You could go with a budget amp that has a USB input (such as the AIYIMA A80 for $172 during Prime Day) combined with a set of passive bookshelf speakers, for example. Or buy a DAC that has a USB input, like this SMSL SU-1 for $73 on amazon, then you could buy whatever amp (maybe this Fosi Audio ZA3 for $120 on Prime Day) and set of passive bookshelf speakers. For "cheaper" bookshelf speakers, I've heard good things about the Polk X15 ($159) and Polk X20 ($179).
