give this a try That uses the RGB signal from the PS1 multi out instead of the composite signal, so it looks much better. I saw significant improvement when I bought this to replace my composite HDMI adapter.

Update for those looking at this post in the future: As per a lot of people’s recommendations, I looked into buying a GBS-C upscaler. It’s about 80ish bucks where I live so I wanted to look into other options first before caving in. I went home back home during the weekend to visit my parents for Father’s Day. Fortunately for me, my parents had an older early 2010’s plasma Tv just laying around that originally belonged to my late Grandfather. The Tv has both Composite/Component and HDMI inputs. I bought this LevelHike PS2 -> HDMI adapter just before going home and tested it on my Grandfather’s tv, and oh man was it a night and day difference. It’s not perfect, but it’s probably a 1000 times better than the picture I have posted here. I’m now looking into potentially buying a set of component cables. According to Reddit, Retrovision is the best in the market. I’ll update y’all shortly. TLDR: If you want good quality on newer TV models, an upscaler is the way to go. PS2 to HDMI adapters don’t upscale video quality but are still 10 times better than the regular crappy AV to HDMI converters that most retro game stores sell alongside the PS2. Going to test component cables shortly and will update y’all.

Thoughts on the Hyperkin and LevelHike ? I’ll definitely take a deeper look into ElectroWarp though. First time I’m hearing of it. Thanks!

Well those hdmi converts are notoriously terrible so the blurry visuals is due to that. The audio on the other hand could be either the converter or a bad cord. For a converter your best bet is a retrolink they give you the best Audio and visual quality. A cheaper option I’ve found that was surprisingly solid was this hdmi adapter. It’s no retrolink but mine is leagues better than any of the other converters I’ve tried. Had it for 2 years before I got my retrolink and it worked perfectly

Well you go 2 options really you can go cheap for a hdmi converter. Main issue with those is that the quality generally sucks most of the time and comes out really blurry. Their are a few good one out there but you have to get lucky to find one. Best one I’ve used is this one it’s damn near close to my retrolink so a good budget option. The other is as I mentioned, get you a good retrolink. Basically does the same thing but you get far crispier outputs and less input delay. Also retro links or pretty universal so you can use the same box with other retro consoles not just Sony models But honestly man I would say away from any of the cheap converters like I said I’ve tried out a few and all of them were really back and laggy. Like I said the one I linked is the only one I’ve ever had good experiences with.

This is the best one I’ve found that doesn’t break the bank. Gets you some really solid picture quality compared to some of the other ones that come out blurry
