What were you soldering? A grinder? That tip is destroyed. Get a new tip and get Soldering For Dummies. Also get an adjustable soldering iron. I use this cheapy one.

Soldering practice kit Basic Soldering Iron tin lead solder Flux and wick Helping Hands Face Shield Please be careful. It’s still pretty dangerous. My first time I didn’t have proper helping hands and the whole board went knocking off. Ended up burning my hand t so bad and so quick I didn’t feel it. Don’t be me. Use proper ppe, helping hands, and also for some reason, don’t wear gloves. It will just melt it to your skin before it protects anything Edit: this was supposed to be a response for another comment asking me about soldering, but I can’t move the comment without all the links breaking. At least not on mobile.

Honestly I’d recommend a ‘soldering station’ type over the ‘pencil’ types…a few $ more but worth it in the long run. Something like this. For wire strippers you can find them at any box store, I have several types but the ones I use for electronics work are Klein and Klein Automatic
