i use a {cheap soldering station with a hot air gun](https://a.co/d/06nyEWJJ) and [a pcb holder](https://a.co/d/00YppHhP) (to hold the board while you work), [Kapton tape](https://a.co/d/0hUyz0qi) to cover EVERYTHING around the pads you dont want melted, add some [flux](https://a.co/d/08CmaIqt) and more solder to to the joints holding the stick they make it melt faster/easierin 1 hand between 380°C and 450°C (715°F–840°F) with an airflow of 3 to 4 blow on the joints with the heat gun in the other grab the stick and gently pull down on the stick with some pliers so once the solder melts you can pull it free now do the opposite with the new (preferably TMR) stick and once its in add more solder until its a smooth cone on top and you're good an if you use TMR sticks use this site to calibrate them and youre goodhttps://dualshock-tools.github.io/ its kinda expensive upfront but it will be worth it in the long run and if thats too much you can try to find a local shop that will do repairs and supply them with the sticks and have them do it i had none within 100m so i just bit the bullet

Soldering practice kit Basic Soldering Iron tin lead solder Flux and wick Helping Hands Face Shield Please be careful. It’s still pretty dangerous. My first time I didn’t have proper helping hands and the whole board went knocking off. Ended up burning my hand t so bad and so quick I didn’t feel it. Don’t be me. Use proper ppe, helping hands, and also for some reason, don’t wear gloves. It will just melt it to your skin before it protects anything Edit: this was supposed to be a response for another comment asking me about soldering, but I can’t move the comment without all the links breaking. At least not on mobile.
