Tbh Macbook neos are a crazy great value at around $500 or something for education pricing given their performance, especially compared to other manufacturer's laptops at the same price point. I wouldn't spend $1000 on a laptop if I was in your shoes, but that's just me, and you have a pretty wide budget all things considered.
