If you have the liquid clindamycin, your doctor should be able to get you the lotion formula instead. This may be easier on your hair because it will have little to no alcohol. Other than that there are scalp tonic products like this one: https://a.co/d/dhjrsEF The effective over the counter products are salicylic acid/glycolic acid (these are best before other products) and peppermint/tea tree oil. These all break up biofilm of the microbes we want to kill. Then there is hibiclens, which kills most things. You could use an antifungal if you have a fungal infection, but hibiclens or the clindamycin you have will kill just about anything. I use hibiclens as a shampoo but then follow with a regular shampoo to soften my hair, it's pretty drying. https://a.co/d/5GlHjbT Here's the salicylic/ glycolic toner I like. I think they are both the same in effectiveness: https://a.co/d/9He6XfQ https://a.co/d/chbWeRx As I'm looking for these links, it occurs to me I could be using hypochlorous acid after the toner instead of hibiclens, as a way to kill the microbes between washes. Despite the harsh sounding name, hypochlorous acid is very gentle. I fell down a rabbit hole of silver products but that's all questionable and not FDA approved. Here's an old school antiseptic that I think I'll try myself because sometimes we had it right a long time ago. Looks like it's gentle for the hair with the petroleum base: https://a.co/d/7OpueeL TL; DR- For the cheapest and easiest solution, I'd suggest asking the doctor for the lotion clindamycin instead of the liquid because the alcohol may be harming your hair. Use one of the toners I suggested 20 minutes before using that to help increase the effectiveness. If that doesn't improve the inflamed scalp in a week or two, start adding other products to your routine.
