Your fear of saying or doing anything offensive is going to end up leading to more trauma. You're going to realize that you missed out of the best years of your life because you were so afraid of doing or saying anything that could "creep" someone out. All the women that were flirting with you, all the opportunities you had, all the times that you could have said what's in your heart but didn't because you were afraid. That's going to end up being far more traumatic one day than telling some girl you like her. I highly recommend getting some trauma therapy. Don't just get therapy, find a therapist that specializes in trauma. Please also read this book, Models by Mark Manson. It will change your entire life when it comes to dating and understanding women.
Ah, some men really are creepy. Like I know a female bartender who describes the first words too many men say as being crazy sexual. And then, as to deficiencies, a man or woman should first make sure they have followed the best practices for attracting those they want to attract. For men, get fit, groom yourself, dress like you’re successful, speak slowly with a deeper tone, make eye contact, smile, etc. (To go above and beyond, learn the psychology of what tends to attract women to men based on women’s answers in psych studies and also check out Mark Manson’s Attracting Women Through Honesty.) If you do all that, it decreases the chance of negative interactions, and increases the chance of neutral interactions becoming positive.
