It comes apart so you can raise and lower it, plus it has a small cushion I carry w me everywhere to soften when I prop my foot on the wheelchair or whatever. https://a.co/d/0eaUKrpL Besides that, I got a couple of ice wraps and a shower chair that have been very helpful. Haven't been in the same situation but I will say i did find a pretty affordable wheelchair on amazon that I purchased! I know it is a bit pricey but if you or maybe someone could help you afford it .^ just wanted to put the option out there. I wish you luck! wheelchair
