I slept in a soft pillow boot like others have mentioned, but wanted to share a soft night splint option as well. I felt like i just wanted a reminder I couldn't walk + a little protection if I bumped it, but if you're jerking down and want to keep the ankle itself more stable, it might work for you. Amazon links bc they're easy, but your doctor's office might have similar that are covered by insurance.

I was so nervous to sleep without the boot! My surgeon said it was ok to sleep without the boot at week 2. I did sleep with it a few additional weeks (I have a 75lb puppy that sleeps with me so abundance of caution haha) but then I transitioned to this pillow thing. It was enough to signal to my brain that I cant step on it if I had to get up, gave just a bit of extra cushion so it was more comfy against the mattress, it kept the sheets from getting tangled, and to the pup it was similar enough to the boot that he was so careful. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GDDQZNM5?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_3&th=1 (note this was about half the price when I bought it, so shop around for similar if you feel like it would help). I did also notice my ankle loosening up a few nights after sleeping without boot...I think because it can more naturally stretch out when you're asleep.

I kept my knee scooter close for any nighttime trips

I had the same injury (trimal with dislocation, plates/screws/tightrope) and the same anxieties. I also live alone so I was terrified I'd fall and need assistance that wasn't there. I too was put in the boot at week 2 and told I could take it off to shower and sleep. This injury affects everyone mentally as well as physically, you are not alone! Would something like this help for the shower? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XSF5NR3?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 You wouldn't need to sit and swing your legs over, which might feel more stable. I also really liked having these grab bars for extra stability and I still have them in my shower (I'm 20ish weeks): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CP38K767?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_9&th=1 I also slept in my boot for ages. I was afraid I would need to get up in the middle of the night and forget and take a bare step. And I have a 75lb puppy that I was afraid would either bump or accidentally lay/jump on my ankle. It was week 6ish that PT gave me a hard talk about it and I transitioned to this pillow thing. It was enough to signal to my brain that I cant step, and to the pup it was similar enough to the boot that he was so careful. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GDDQZNM5?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_3&th=1 (note this was about half the price when I bought it, so shop around of you feel like it would help). I did immediately feel my ankle loosening up after a few nights of boot-free sleeping...I think it truly needed to flop around a bit while totally relaxed. Speaking of PT, I highly recommend doing it if at all possible. My PT was the one to push me and got me over a lot of mental humps. Plus the exercises and massage and accountability. Sorry to send you a shopping list, just wanted to share some items that helped my own anxieties. Hang in there!
