A couple options that are cheaper than the Studio Display are the BenQ PD2730S 27" 5K and ASUS ProArt Display 27” 5K

If you want a crisp display there are sub-$1K 5K monitors now, like this ProArt. They’re just plain IPS panels, though. MSI, LG and maybe a few other companies have announced 5K mini LEDs. They’re using the same panel as Apple’s ridiculously priced Studio Display XDR. Here’s LG’s, looks like it’s shipping.
