Congrats on the new place! And to all people not understanding why the cats are on the counter: it’s the first day! OP said in general the cats are not allowed in the counter. This is typical first day in a new place behavior. OP, I had to get a kitchen island since I have almost no counter space and it was the best idea for my kitchen. I actually got mine off of Temu lol. But it was the same exact model I was looking at on Amazon, just $75 cheaper. So I got it even though Amazon is easier to return stuff if something is wrong or missing. Everything was there. One thing that sucks with it was over the past year, losing pegs from the cabinet shelves inside. But those are cheap to order replacements on Amazon. I put a piece of rubber glove around the peg’s insert side now so the pegs won’t fall out. At least my pegs they came with easily fell out but you may not have that problem. Are you legit asking where to put all that stuff? Cuz I have ideas if you want help :) it is hard to organize a kitchen when it’s small and you have a ton of stuff. At least one idea I have is to not only get that island, but a separate pantry if you have the space. I got one on amazon that holds all my non perishable foods, baking stuff, etc. And I use the bottom part for extra storage for things like my space heater, clothes iron and stuff… https://a.co/d/0f819jPk I know you didn’t ask for this but just in case… One thing a lot of my friends have done when moving out on their own is get behind on rent….even if it’s a month and they pay the late fee. It begins to snowball and then they’re paying like hundreds more a months on being behind. Always pay rent on time and don’t let bills go delinquent. I’ve been on my own since I was 16 and have been living like my Mom did….my Mom was always on top of bills even though we weren’t rich and definitely rowing the edge of not having food…but all bills were paid and I even saw her friends lose their cars and homes because they got behind. So you’ll never lose anything if you stay on top and ahead. And live within your means. Lots of ppl overspend especially when they get a credit card then boom all are bets are off and they start letting one bill go then another the. It snowballed and they lose stuff and it takes a longer time to start over from loss and climbing out of a hole than it does to just live in your means. 🤍
