I have taken mine out on a harness. I use this one, and one time he leapt over the (second story) balcony and it stayed on while I pulled him back up. https://a.co/d/09nczzL4 I think the key is to keep it snug, especially behind the forelegs. I also take him out in a fully enclosed backpack, not the kind with their head out. He loves it and runs right in when I pull it out. In both cases he’s satisfied with short excursions and starts to meow if I push it too far. I have to be careful around the door, always ready with the foot to push him back but he’s never meowed at it.
