Hi you're getting lots of responses that don't seem to address the reality of your situation. Get a corset/lace up back on Amazon. They usually come with a modesty panel to go under the loops. They are like $20. The stuff you make probably comes apart cause you use too long of a stitch length and you don't backstitch at the start and end of your seams. Yes in a perfect world you would have a dress that fits perfectly or the budget or time for a tailor. This world ain't that one tho. A really big pretty ribbon to lace it up can hide a lot. Look for something satin and double faced, an inch wide. Don't cut the zipper or the zipper tape. Hand stitch a hook and eye at the top of where the zipper comfortably stops, that will keep it from gapping. Add the corset insert to the rest, but just fold the zipper under when you do so.
