When i had an afro i put on a satin beanie (https://www.amazon.com/Satin-Lined-Hair-Cover-Sleep/dp/B09K4FP6B3?th=1) and then headphones with an extra long band to reach both ears, there will be no dent but obviously it squishes your hair, so to avoid breakage i picked just at the roots and used my fingers to get it back to full form. Depending on the size of your fro that might not work because theres too much hair for it to reach both ears, if thats the case you could get clip on headphones, I haven't tried them but supposedly the quality is just the same and they just clip on your ears you could also get the clip on headphones and then put a customly long/extendible band on them to reach around your hair
