I'd start with the stuff with fragrance and dyes that you consume or goes on your body in sensitive areas. Here's a list and what we switched to over a number of years. Some things may be expensive to replace or difficult to source good replacements. I'd just start with the easy wins, whatever is easiest to incorporate into your life and shopping habits. Don't feel like you need to throw anything out; go ahead and use up what you have and replace as needed. I would not start with makeup because I found that to be the most difficult. Laundry detergent (which you already did): Dirty Labs Dishwasher detergent: EcoGeek dishwasher powder Rinse aid: Nature Clean Rinse Aid - I haven't actually tried this yet and haven't done extensive research on it Dryer sheets: wool balls Fabric softener: we don't use Shampoo: Ethique Fragrance Free Conditioner: Ethique Fragrance Free Lotion: CeraVe PM Moisturizing Lotion for face (this is not the best non-toxic option but I kinda gave up), Everyone Unscented Lotion for body Shower soap / body wash: Dr. Bronner's Bar Soap Baby Unscented Hand-washing soap: Ecos Hand Soap Free & Clear Dish-washing soap: Ecos Dish Soap Free & Clear Cooking pots and pans: cast iron, stainless steel Household cleaners: vinegar/water for everyday cleaning, Force of Nature for disinfecting Candles or any other scented fragrance stuff: we don't use Food storage (like plastic tupperware): we use Pyrex storage (has plastic lids but oh well, we just don't microwave those). If you can't replace plastic food storage, at least don't heat up your food in plastic containers. Plastic cutting boards: wood cutting boards, we use a rubber cutting board for meat. We got our wooden cutting boards from Adirondack Kitchen. Plastic drinking cups: we use glass Water bottles: Life Factory for glass options. I do like my Owala water bottle which has a plastic mouthpiece, but I did at least replace the plastic straw with a Koala stainless steel straw Plastic cooking utensils: Jonathan's Spoons or stainless steel Vitamins: look for high-quality and third-party tested vitamins. Some ideas are FullWell, Seeking Health, and Needed. Period products: lots of options here and I don't get a period currently, so I'm not sure what's the best. But I liked Party In My Pants reusable pads. Paper towels: we switched to a big collection of dark-colored Target cotton dishcloths Clothes: when buying clothes, aim for mostly natural fibers like cotton, wool, linen Deodorant: this is where the "moderately" granola comes, because I have had zero success with non-toxic deodorant that actually works. I use Ethique Fragrance Free when I'm not going to be around other people and a toxic option otherwise lol This might be a good resource: Dr. Leah Gordon's Low-Tox Products
