I’m a day out too. Got a CRT-D yesterday morning. I absolutely cannot recline, lay down on my back or on my side without pain. I’m sitting straight up in bed propped up with pillows and the biggest help was getting a moldable pillow. Some times I use it under my arm or I can mold it around my neck like a travel pillow. That’s how I’ve been able to sleep upright. He originally said I’d get conscious sedation but after mentioning my PTSD and anxiety he put orders in for general anesthesia. I was out before my surgeon even entered the OR. Sorry to hear your mom’s experience was traumatic, I highly recommend getting her in with a therapist before it becomes a bigger issue. I made myself meals and snacks in advance, you bringing meals I’m sure is appreciated. I would also suggest offering to help out with laundry or trash or find out what else they need help with.
