When u click on that item in Amazon it will show u 2 differrent item in this combo, 1 is 2nd gen Battery doorbell No, the one in your screenshot is not the 2nd gen battery doorbell, it's the original 1st gen that came out 2 years ago. Easiest way to tell is that it has almost 1300 reviews and they go back to 2024. The 2nd gen has only been out for 2 weeks. And this is the link to it: https://www.amazon.com/REOLINK-Video-Doorbell-150%C2%B0x150%C2%B0-Detection/dp/B0FJDRFFQ6
It's been available on the US Amazon store for a few weeks already- https://a.co/d/0hjPIoqx What isn't available is the Power Kit referenced in the manual.
Is this a regional availability thing? I ordered one on Prime Day and already have it installed at my parents house. https://a.co/d/0b3xliZi
I can answer most of your questions... 1 - No you can't. MagiCam: This can only record 24/7 to its SD card, not to a Hub or NVR: https://i.vgy.me/vrxMhB.png Battery doorbell: The 1st gen battery doorbell, which came out about 2-3 years ago, cannot record 24/7 period. When it's connected to doorbell wiring for power that's just trickle charging the battery, it's not powering the camera directly. Where things get confusing is there is now a 2nd gen version of that doorbell that just came out a few weeks ago. It's not even on their own website yet, but it is on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/REOLINK-Video-Doorbell-150%C2%B0x150%C2%B0-Detection/dp/B0FJDRFFQ6 I suspect this was just a soft launch and the real launch will be in the coming months. Now the specs of that say when connected to power it can record continuously. However, it seems that will require a power kit that isn't even available yet. See here: https://www.reddit.com/r/reolinkcam/comments/1u826ty/battery_doorbell_gen_2_be_aware_you_need_power/ Now if you were wanting a doorbell that's wifi, can be powered by doorbell wiring, and can record 24/7 you could have gotten the non-battery wired/wifi doorbell: https://reolink.com/product/reolink-video-doorbell-wifi/ 2 - I know with the battery doorbell it will time out after so many minutes. I forget exactly what it is, I want to say 5 minutes. That's how all their battery cameras work. I haven't tested it with the MagiCam, but I assume it will work the same way. Basically, if you want live viewing and you have access to power you shouldn't be using battery cameras. If you're wanting the MagiCam because it's small, I'd recommend getting the Lumus or Lumus Pro instead, they're not much bigger and will be much better video quality. 3 - "I read in the MagiCam FAQ on Reolink's website that in order to obtain an RTSP stream, the MagiCam must first be paired with a Home Hub series device" I just wanted to point out that this is true of all their battery cams, not just the MagiCam. And that it could also be an NVR, doesn't have to be a Hub specifically. 3a - I can't find it now, but I'm certain I remember seeing that their cameras/NVRs/Hubs can support up to 2 main RTSP streams and something like 10 sub streams. In this case the MagiCam doesn't have two streams, so it's a question of whether the Hub considers the cam's single stream a main stream or a sub stream. I don't have a Hub Pro, but I do have the base Hub and a MagiCam added to it, so I tested it. I was able to open 5 separate RTSP streams successfully in VLC and stream them all for a few minutes. So it must consider them sub streams since they're such a low bit rate. It probably would have let me do more than 5, but I stopped there. 3b - Only a single stream, the MagiCam only has one stream. 3c - According to this, no: https://i.vgy.me/9Y7rOq.png (that's from here). However, I tested this by opening an RTSP stream of my MagiCam in VLC and let it sit. It stayed streaming for 28 minutes before disconnecting. Now I don't know if that was because it hit a built in time limit, or if it just had a network hiccup and lost the stream. I don't have time to keep testing it, sorry. That does bring up a point though... RTSP can be flaky and has no error correction/recovery, so if it disconnects like that you'd have to restart the stream manually. 4a - Yes. I have the 1st gen battery doorbell connected to doorbell wiring for power and running through my Hub, and I successfully tested both a main stream and a sub stream. 4b - By the Hub. That's why the Hub is needed to even get an RTSP stream.
The v2 does do 24x7 when wired for power and not battery https://a.co/d/09TEEEZ2
No, this one: https://a.co/d/0b2T7lCp
This one. It’s suppose to be a battery doorbell that works fully as hardwired or battery and with ability to do mechanical chime. Problem is they do not release the chime power kit for another 3 months. Cool thing is it also suppose to have pre recording and it does. https://a.co/d/0693KCOg
