You don't really need to understand the process of everything to build a PC. Get the parts (good luck on that right now) and/or a pre-built and take it apart/put it back together (cheaper if you get a used one) and see what the parts are. How Computers Work by Ron White's last version is like 12-13 years old but still applies for the nitty-gritty details that gives a general overview of how the computer works.
