When you get here, buy your gear. Go to Cabelas or North Face/ Columbia or other outdoor gear stores in a mall.Lands End/ Eddie Bauer/ LL Bean online have many good options for you.Buy a coat, couple of hats, 2 pairs of gloves and a neck gaiter, pair of boots. Some wool socks, and undershirts. Get some long underwear. I only wear the neck gaiter or long underwear when I’m shoveling, or planning to play outside all day. I wear a tank or a tee every day under sweaters or sweatshirts. You want 2 pairs of gloves so if one is wet, you’ll have another pair, or if you lose one. Oddly… winter gear is hard to find in stores by December/ January.. when you really need it. Next year, buy lighter or heavier coat, whichever you need. We all have light and heavy winter gear. I think I have 4 winter coats, 2 pairs of boots. Numerous hats and gloves. Don’t bother with snow tires, but do get some with a good M + S rating. I have a Michelin set from Costco. No on snow chains for tires, but get them for your feet. Yak Trax or something similar. I have them on my boots when I’m walking the dog, or shoveling. And yes on salt, sand bags or kitty litter for axel weight. If you get stuck, can use for traction as well. Get a proper snow brush and scraper for your car. Not the shitty gas station ones. Don’t forget to brush off the headlights! So many forget. And a small car shovel.Something like : https://www.amazon.com/AstroAI-Windshield-Extendable-Pivoting-Household/dp/B08L7Z7H61?ref_=ast_bl_cpl_dp&th=1&psc=1
