These: https://a.co/d/0dGE8H8w Forget what I first got them for but they have come in handy a lot. They keep consistent pressure across the whole jaw. And it’s smooth and “damage free”. IRWIN VISE-GRIP Adjustable Pliers, Plumbing, Tongue & Groove, 8-Inch (IRHT82635)
I'll chime in on tools, parts aren't worth much if you're not assembling them correctly. Here's a sneaky one: 'Pliers Wrench' with flat faces. Put some masking tape on the face, and you can squeeze-press in many pins. Especially helpful on the trigger guard and the gas block. Others off the top: Torque wrench (and fitting for your barrel nut & castle nut), roll punch set, center punch, 'real avid' pivot pin install tool, bench vise (with soft jaws), basic lower/upper vise block. FAT Torque wrench for scope screws and mounting. Some silicon grease for buffer spring, some AeroShell grease for the barrel.
