Timing is everything. I wanted to see if the newer Maglite LED versions are any good so the other day I ordered one that takes 2 ea C batteries. Also ordered a couple rechargeable 1.5v C batteries. I have no illusions about this. It's for science. No way will it be as good as an LED light that uses Liion batteries. This is the one I decided to get - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010B5EWNE?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 * For your current lights, I would recommend skipping alkaline batteries and head for NiMh, or do like I did and get 1.5v rechargeables. The advantage of the 1.5v rechargeables is they put out a constant 1.5v until almost the very end. The light does not get dim.
