Looks like I am not using the right flux after all! What I thought was electronics safe flux isn't, which means it may cause corrosion to some of the metals found in electronics over time. Cool! It is literally a tub of flux that I dip a toothpick into and apply where I want it. I also use cotton swabs dipped into 70% isopropyl alcohol and rub them until it is no longer greasy, I use a lot of them and they do shred sometimes, I pick the fuzz out with toothpicks, I use a lot of those too! Alcohol will not hurt the electronics so don't be afraid of being liberal with it as well. Now I am going to be buying so different flux! https://www.amazon.com/SRA-Soldering-Electronics-Lead-Free-Electrical/dp/B008ZIV85A
