Depends on how great the drill press is working for keeping it straight. If chip ejection a big deal, I'd probably try to make a brace jig and use an auger bit, but I think anything with a snail is not compatible with the drill press. Might be possible to rig a upside down or slanted-up jig, so gravity helps eject the chips. Probably can find decent auger bits without the snail (I only have in a couple of sizes currently, though), and that might be the best.
