Someone in the kettlebell subreddit suggested changing my grip so that I'm not using my whole hand to grip the handle, and instead loosen it so most of the grip is in my fingers and less on my palm. Also to grip more towards the ends of the handle and less in the middle. That seemed to help the most for me. The adjusted grip feels less safe than gripping with my whole hand, but it did relieve the swelling and pain.
