Yes, wrap or decal shops(the ones who do advertising on cars/trucks, custom car graphics, magnets and stuff like that) is where I would start. They will have the good stuff, obviously used on the streets. If you strike out there, dedicated print shops have plenty of access to the same materials and machines. Just avoid the small "promotional good" shops as they usually outsource and act as a middle man but could provide leads to who they use. Sign shops will also be a good resource. If you have to network a little, powder coating, rim, tuning shops, etc will all "have a guy" they use. I would still request the good stuff like 3M, Avery, Oracal materials or something in that order/range. Color may dictate the manufacturer more than anything. You can also buy rolls of it online in different sizes, lengths. Stay away from the cheap Chinese no name crap vinyl, I don't care what others say or used, it's pure junk. Something like this: https://a.co/d/0gjbsZFj Not sure on your budget but solids will cost less than metallics and color shifting styles. They also make "arts and craft" versions so can take it as far as you want or use it for practice to get the layout/process down before committing.
