You might like my series, Armageddon Interface. Takes place entirely in our world, and the apocalypse is slow-rolling, so it's still noticeably our world three books in, just our world with monsters and wizards and shit

An apocalypse is pretty standard in this genre; pretty much any series that starts in the "real" world will have an end-of-the-world scenario by like chapter three. The real question is what flavor of apocalypse you want. Primal Hunter is one of the OGs, and it starts with our integration into the wider multiverse; the System arrives, the world is basically remade from the ground up, everyone is dropped into a tutorial, and now we have to fight for survival. The MC is a murder hobo archer alchemist. Defiance of the Fall is another classic; the System arrives, and demons invade our reality. Humanity has to fight for the right to own our planet. The MC casts Axe a lot. My series is a slow-rolling apocalypse; the world doesn't end immediately, and it isn't until book three that we start to see things impact the world at large. Up until that point, the crisis is generally limited to individual cities and secret government agencies.

If you're in the mood, you can give my series, Armageddon Interface a shot. Here's the book blurb: Our world is not real. We exist inside a massive Simulation. Our reality, our history, our lives are all figments of an unfathomably complex algorithm. Connor Cole is one of a thousand people who know the truth, one of a thousand people with access to the Interface that controls the world. The Interface provides him an enchanted sword, magic armor, and arcane powers, drawing him into a world of Celtic war-goddesses, secret Government agencies, demonic princes banished to hellish otherworlds, and wicked mages bent on conquest. Our world has changed. The Simulation is designed to create conflict. And in this new reality, Connor Cole has only one choice: become the strongest, in order to survive.

You might like my series, Armageddon Interface; it's a slow-burn system apocalypse, where one-thousand people get access to the system and its powers. I try to mix humor, tension, and character-driven plot. The MC is a warlock pledged to a semi-celtic war goddess, there's a secret government agency trying to stop the end of the world, and the requisite sapient pet

Glad you like it! Shameless self-plug, training takes up a good chunk of the first book in my series, though it becomes less of a factor in later books. You might also like Arcane Ascension; this series is about a magical war college, and the MC is both super smart and super interested in the mechanics of magic.

My series, Armageddon Interface, is third-person, multi-POV, and blends sci-fi and fantasy. The concept is that simulation theory is real, and our world exists inside a computer. The engineer who created the simulation turns on the gamelilke elements, and the result is a bunch of fantasy stuff -- warlocks, evil wizards, monsters -- show up and cause havoc. There is sci-fi in there, too, with secret government agencies, high-tech gear, and the like.
