Get a proper wheel cleaner that's safe/actually designed for tires and rims, and cheaper than chain cleaner. I use "Armor All Extreme Wheel and Tire Cleaner" which gets all the road grime, grease, any slung chain lube, etc. off the rims with just one spray and wipe off. Armor All Tire Cleaner is cheap and cleans off grime on rims with just a wipe or two. I just recently had to clean off a lot of grime build up and took me less than a few minutes and two cloths and the rim was like new. Ive tried kerosene, chain cleaner, and wd40, which all work but this is much cheaper and works just as well ime. https://a.co/d/0hBYbWV2
