I have a humidifier from Stadler Form and it came with THIS "silver cube". It should work as "disinfectant"... I have the humidifier for 2 years and don't have trouble with algae at all... I rarely clean it (like 4 times a year) Maybe you can find something different that will suit yours... but as far as I know you can just dump that cube into your water reservoir and it maybe should be OK.
