I would highly recommend speaking to your dr about getting a course of steroids. I got some on day 3 and it helped the swelling/pain a lot. Also, numbing throat spray and throat lozenges (like Chlorasceptic and Cepacol). Those were a life saver for me. The pain also went up tremendously for me on day 8 so don’t be afraid to ask for a refill on pain meds. If you are taking opioids absolutely take stool softeners daily. I got constipated so bad and was actually bleeding 😬. Keep a strict painkiller schedule. Every 4 hours on the dot for me. Gum really helps to keep your throat/jaw mobile and I didn’t get any stiffness. Alkaline water went down easier for me. It didn’t sting as bad. Smart water also helped as it has electrolytes. Drink as much as you can. There’s nothing worse than letting your mouth/throat get dry. Prepare for your tongue to hurt like never before and your sense of taste will get messed up. I’m on day 13 and have a little pain on one side of my throat still but it hardly bothers me and I can eat almost everything now.
