I used a standard USB 3.0 USB-A cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C7S2FRE?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 and a fairly expensive USB-C cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F5WZWF98?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1. The ports don't move at all in my setup. My only concern was the USB-C port, since I had to slide it forward to make it flush with the plastic cover. However, the internal molded channels do a great job of holding the cables securely in place. Plus, the cables are pressed down by the metal plate, which provides enough resistance to keep them from being pushed back.If you're concerned about the cable slipping backward, simply place a thin piece of rubber between the connector and the metal plate. After tightening the plate, there’s no way the cable can move.
