https://a.co/d/09BwjNnB The above link is to a grumbacher mixed media sketch book. I have my high school students use this! It’s great for drawing, watercolor, and light acrylic paints. My suggestion is to start with watercolor. There are some great youtube tutorials to get you started (of course.) Watercolor paintings can be done a bit at a time. You’ll mostly want an area to dry fully before painting over it or even near the painted areas. Start with a light sketch and start painting. Get a decent watercolor set and not the elementary school set. If you either struggle with watercolor (as I do, even as an art teacher) or you want to try something new, you can get some acrylic paints. If the sketchbook gets too limiting you can get small canvases or wood panels (which are smoother and my preference.) Ten Hundred on youtube does a great job showing his acrylic processes. The biggest suggestion is to paint things that excite you! Congrats on the kiddos!
