No, no it's not. I used to think this too. Then I got a rice cooker/food steamer combo unit. Literally I dump a bag of mixed frozen veggies, some chicken or stew meat cuts in there, and turn it on. Maybe I'll put pork dumplings in instead of the meat. Maybe I'll do lentils another day. Or a tamale in there. I play video games or go on a walk, and when I get back an 40min to an hour later my food is done. Just put some soy sauce or some Chinese fermented black beans in chili oil on it and it's done. If I want more food or fiber I add a bunch of Kimchi to it after cooking. The whole meal is like 400-500 calories, low carb and nearly all veggies and lean meat, and is easy as shit to make and tasty as hell. Theres also almost no cleanup. This is the rice cooker & veggie steamer combo unit I use.
I solved this. I got a rice cooker with a steaming tray that also has ceramic. Cooking a healthy meal in it is so easy it's ridiculous and theres almost no cleanup. I dont even have to watch it, I can put the food in and then go on a walk and then come back and my food is done. And these steamers you can cook so much in it. Not just vegetables and rice, but you can put dumplings in there, lo mai gai (sticky rice lotus leaf wraps), chicken, stew meat, tamales, beans etc. I put some dark rice and lentils in there, and then in the steam tray I put a bag of frozen veggies, some diced grilled chicken pieces, and some non fried dumplings. When I come back, magically a whole dinner is finished. I just put some seasoning & soy sauce on it, and some Kimchi on the side and its all awesome. I've lost 12 lbs since getting it too because I eat out way less and am eating more veggies and lean stuff now. This is the one I got btw
