16 in mainstays pot from walmart So above is a link to the cheapest big planters I have found. $7.44 for 16 inches. It is plastic. Pretty okay as far as plastic goes. Walmart does have some bigger ones under 30 out in the oitside garden section in late spring. But that one that is 7.44 is my favorite. Enough holes. Cost effective. Good shape for whenever it needs repotted next. They have a few colors to choose from. Beyond that, I know people get creative with turning other things into pots or spending the 50-90 on the large ceramic pots. You can turn childrens toy/laundry buckets into pots. They are roughly 16-21 inches. May be 8 to 24 dollars. Think of those buckets with the rope handles. Just have to drill holes. Once your plant outgrows that, next is to start looking at those mega trash cans. Like the ones that roll around at businesses. Could also use plastic totes if you are fine with rectangle pots. What starts to become an issue, is if your monstera gets very mature and has the 2 foot plus leaves, at that point all parts of the plant become heavy. So if you are in a 12 inch plastic pot. Or 16 inch plastic pot. You risk it tipping over when the soil gets anywhere close to dry. Or once it reaches the point of needing repotted and the roots will the pot. It may tip over a lot. I have a monstera where the stem is as thick as an adult wrist and it was tipping a 12 inch pot when wet. Now it is in a 16 inch, but ik it is only a matter of months before it is able to tip that as well. That is when a good crazy expensive, heavy, impossible to move, ceramic pot comes on. You might as well be planning to save for that 50-90 dollar ceramic 16-20 plus inch pot. It is inevitable once the monstera gets top heavy enough. For now, enjoy the other options, or get creative with figuring out how to weigh down the bottom. Next issue - drain trays to fit massive pots if you have your baby inside. I recommend dollar tree oil pans. There is an automotive section at dollar tree and they have plastic oil pans that are big enough for the 16inch plus pots. Also if inside and you want a good soak, those kids toys tubs are great. As long as your ceiling allows with lifting the monstera up to put it in it. Because there is a point that transporting to the tub becomes unrealistic.
