Those calling for disposal of the battery are jumping the gun a little bit, nothing is guaranteeing that battery isnt perfectly recoverable with no lasting effect, just gotta follow a few easy steps: Seperate the leads from each other, dont let them touch any more. Youre getting sparks when they touch because youre shorting out individual cells, thats no beuno Check voltage on each cell, youll need a multimeter for this. Start with one lead on the negative terminal on the balance lead, carefully probe through the balance leads until you find one that measures 3-4v. Mark that lead as 1, note the voltage, then repeat the process to measure between lead 1 and the rest of the leads until you find one between 3-4v, rinse and repeat through all the balance leads. If all the batteries measure within .2v or so of each other and nothing is below bout 3.2v, the battery itself is completely fine, proceed to step 3 without problems. If the cells are .2-.5v out of balance with each other, youre probably fine, but proceed with caution. Anything more than .5v out of balance is a cause for concern. Any cells below 3v, condemn the pack Long as the voltages check out, repinning the balance lead is easy work, all you need is JST-XH connector kit, crimpers, and wire strippers. Heres the kit with just the connectors, heres the crimping tool. Be very careful when working on the leads to not let them short out. Trim off the damaged wires so theyre all the same length, crimp on a new pin, insert pins into the new connector in the correct order (connector facing away from you with the little locking arrows facing up, black wire will be on the left, then wires 1-6 left to right) Plug it into the charger to make sure everything looks hunky-dory, slow-charge it to make sure nothing seems weird, and assuming your charger supports it check the cell internal resistance Pretty simple process if youre comfortable with a meter and basic hand tools, but if you arent comfortable, yeah, condemn the battery
