I'm sure, but it's an efficiency thing, not a make-or-break issue. Basically the airstone will cause a lot of CO2 to dissipate before the plants can use it, wasting it. Its probably safer for the fish, but will waste CO2. The filter flow is fine, it's the airstone and surface agitation that dissipates it. You should also 100% add a CO2 monitor like this https://www.amazon.com/Rhinox-pre-Mixed-3-Minutes-Sufficient-Aquarium/dp/B0895Z9399 I use a carbonate neutralization system, not a yeast fermentation setup, so I'm not sure if there are quirks to yours you'll have to figure out. I don't think you can shut off the co2 overnight like I can, you'll probably want to do the airstone only at night though. I don't understand how that system is getting so much pressure for a diffuser from a yeast setup, looking into it a bit more. Edit: Dennerle made a special diffuser that works at low pressure, cool!
