Realistically, it's not worth upgrading. The only thing you can upgrade would be ram. This would help with general responsiveness, as you don't really have enough ram currently, especially with the iGPU using 2gb of it. But 16gb of ram (2x8gb sodimms) is around $150 at the moment, and it seem silly to put that much into the computer when there's no way to solve the lack of CPU & GPU power. If you want a cheap, easy upgrade, you could buy a cheap mini pc with a decent CPU/iGPU and using your current device as just a screen. Something like this would probably work and give a signifcant boost in performance. This would put you in a similar place in the future though, as again, it can't really be upgraded beyond RAM. Or hunt for a used prebuilt desktop with a dedicated GPU online.
Just jumping on this to suggest something like this I can't personally vouch for it, but 1tb SSD is good and 780m graphics puts performance similar to handhelds like Legion Go or Rog Ally. I have an M2 Mac and a Legion Go. The Legion totally outperforms the Mac in games, like double the fps.
The mini would work.If you wanted wider access to Steam games, something like this at Amazon is a similar price but x86 / Windows compatible. The 1tb storage is better for games too, plus both ram and storage are upgradeable in the future, unlike the Mac mini. Just another option to consider.
