Personally, I would just stick with water based material when using this. Not that you would use any solvent based lacquer or something similar since anything strong will dissolve the plastic container (I work at a paint store and deal with matching colors in many products and bases.) Plus with water, you'll only use water to dilute the paint/primer if you went with a water-base primer and paint. As for tips, I just got one from Amazon for when I was doing a finer finish on some wooden rings. https://a.co/d/00MM2fGi Will always have to dilute the paint either way.
