I travel with all of my projects, large and small. I use a squareish hoop (https://a.co/d/01JShU74) to stitch my big ones, but I made a little pillowcase kind of thing to keep it in and just scrunch the edges under the grime guard. It's fabric. It's scrunchable. Hoops can flatten all wrinkles, and silver dawn will wash out any lingering grime from being left in a hoop for ages. Once it's stitched, I'm more careful about rolling it up under the grime guard. Once I get to beading, I put it in the biggest hoop I can manage and move it strategically to not crush beads. I stick my live thread holder, my needle tin, and extra bobbins/skeins in a Ziploc. My pattern is on a clipboard and I clip my pen to it. The board usually slides into the little protective fabric bag too. I may need to make a bigger one for my bigger hoop though.
