Thanks for posting this. When I was trying to solve the same problem last fall I found a random suggestion somewhere on the internet to use a drone package drop. It gave me the idea that I could make something with an electronic lock, so as a temporary solution I used a power adapter plugged into a smart plug outside and watched for the right cat to go into the trap on my cameras. It isn't ideal but it worked and I didn't have to be outside watching them. I started working on making something battery-powered using Raspberry Pi Pico to remotely trigger the lock, but it has been on the back burner for awhile now since I have been dealing with so many cats and vet trips and have already trapped most all of my ferals. I plan to still finish it eventually because it is criminal how expensive remote traps are for something you can make a better version of for $25 in parts.
