I'll disagree (respectfully) about the stand. I think it's a good idea to develop good posture and ergonomics right off the bat. A stand helps in that regard. Is it absolutely necessary to get started? Nope. But I think it has significant value, nevertheless. I started with just a pad on the coffee table / sofa. I got a stand shortly thereafter. Big difference. I'm not from India, so I don't know what is available there. I honestly don't know if this fits your criteria, and I'm a noob. But I've been using ProMark's Forward Rebound 5AB ActiveGrip Drumsticks. But I think the "AB" designation is more related to the diameter of the sticks rather than the shoulder / taper. Anyhoo... I thought I'd throw that out there, since they call it "5AB."
