Oh I feel yah!!! When I travel with my thin friends and “we” all declare we won’t check bags so we can go quickly from airport to reservations I get frustrated because my clothes take up so much more space than theirs! One pair of my jeans occupies the same amount of space as three of their pairs. My feet are even bigger so less shoe space. I, like you, don’t want to re-wear clothing I was sweaty in. Some re-wears that are less bothersome though are the “hotel chill outfit” I pick a sweat set and that’s what I can wear daily to be comfy in the hotel when we’re not out or between activities. I use compression packing cubes or even the “no vacuum needed - roll up compression bags”. Not sure if I can share links here but I’ll try - something like this - https://a.co/d/0agpvnVC You put your clothes in and then roll the bags to release the air out of a one way valve- compressing all the air and wasted space out of the bag and then sealing it. Once you open it back up the bag is big again but they’re reusable, just roll the air out again when packing to go home. Other tips - wear all your large things on the plane/train. I look like Joey from the episode of friends “could I BE wearing anymore clothes” as well as wearing my largest shoes/boots. For toiletries I use empty lipgloss tubes and fill them if it’s only for a few days bc they occupy sooo much less space than travel size and it’s still plenty. Consider purchasing socks or soap/shampoo on arrival if you’ll be close to shops. I have pre-shipped to the hotel packages of clothes so I didn’t have to pack them. Or order straight from Amazon to the hotel. Call ahead so they know to expect it and inform them of the dates you’ll be there. I always also practice pack. You need to be strategic about outfit choices and how they get in the bag, like Tetris. For example clothing that won’t get sweaty that can have multiple outfit possibilities - especially important for jackets and shoes. Can I use the same belt for all outfits? The same sneakers? Cardigans can go with different outfits (dress vs pants) but aren’t really all up in my pits so I’ll plan for that to be twice - once for dinner where I won’t get sweaty and then a walking tour where it will be the last wear for that item. For jackets do I need a rain coat or will a wallet size foldable poncho work? Do I really need jeans or will thin linen pants do the job? A dress can take up half as much room as a top and pants combo. On one of our last trips I was more open about how much harder it is for me to pack- and several of the girls offered to save space for me in their bags for an item or outfit of mine! Hope this helps and happy travelling!
