The trick to the spool clamp, for gluing up the top then the back is to have plenty of them. And although we tend to get them on in a hurry (thinking the glue setup time is fast approaching) is to take your time, plus you will need at least 12 of them. I made my own, if you are handy...just threaded rod, wing nuts and some 2 inch dowels to cut, as they are pretty expensive for a one-time-build, even at amzn. If you have plenty of wood clamps, they will work too. The binding thing had me nervous too. I bought a wide clear base for my trim router, here) and it gave me much more stability and courage to do it freehand. Once i started...simple. A 2 minute cut. These little guys were perfect for the kerf glueup. Much better than clothespins This bearing bit was great too. This was my 3rd guitar build...anyone saying they can build one , especially an acoustic, in a weekend...well, I would not wanna see the final guitar ;-) Hope this helps. Drop me a note as you proceed if you hit a tough area
