Goruck ballistic trainers would be my highest recommendation but they’re pretty much closed out now. There are still new in box options on eBay. I wear them in the gym and on weekends and are what I would wear if I didn’t have to have steel toe. Next I would say consider No Bull Outwork Edge. A lot of hype around these shoes but they’re built pretty tough and they are comfortable. Not sure if they’re 8 hours just standing around comfortable but maybe. Might need to upgrade the insole. They’re going for around $100 on close out and on TikTok at the moment. Vans Made for the Maker could be an option. Built to a similar standard as premium and skate models but with an anti-slip sole and a replaceable insole. One to consider. No matter what you need to look at support and not so much at cushion. Soft foam like that in running shoes will collapse and leave your feet hurting after the equivalent of 300 miles walking. Or about 60-90 days total wear standing/walking. Look for a training shoe with a minimum of a 10mm heel toe drop. A 12mm would be even better. The high the drop the less strain on your Achilles you’ll have and the more comfortable you’ll be. Also, don’t be afraid to update/upgrade the insole. Most are just basic bitch foam. That shit collapses. If you stick with foam replace every 3ish months. Better yet splurge and pick up a pair of Superfeet Orange. They’re pricey but the padding on the forefoot doesn’t collapse. They’re all day comfortable. Or grab a pair of Thorogood Ultimate insoles. The yellow pad on the forefoot and heel lasts a lot longer than standard foam. And at $20 they’re not a big deal to replace one or twice a year. I run these insoles in a few pairs of my vans. If I went with one of the for the makers vans I’d use them there also. Good luck in your search.
