I've had a number of different X-actos and box cutters over the years, but my current faves are the X-acto Retract-a-Blade, and the Milwaukee Fastback compact foldable. I love being able to retract the X-acto blade for safety when it's not in use. The shape and size of the retract-a-blade is also perfect for my hands; comfortable, and just the right size to give me very precise control without my fingers cramping up as they do with a standard metal X-acto handle. I like the Fastback for its shape and size. It's a compact utility knife with a comfortable handle. It's beefy enough to tackle heavier cutting tasks like thick leather, but small enough to give me much better control than a bulky, full-size box cutter. It's intended for every day pocket carry, but I keep one at my desk and one on my work table and use it for daily leather cutting, and occasional package opening. One suggestion I'd make to anyone who used knives with disposable blades, whether box-cutters or snap-offs, is to take an empty plastic bottle (I use an old ibuprofen bottle) and turn it into a sharps disposal container. I cut a small slit in the bottle toward the top, for depositing used blades, and when the bottle is full, I'll take it (safely) to a recycler instead of throwing it in the trash.
