It's a fair question and hard to answer definitely TBH - I've tried 3:1 (3 parts water 1 part formula) for super constipated kittens temporarily and it helped, but mine were all older than yours. Your guy looks quite little, so a better approach might be something else I've tried in the past, diluting the formula just slightly and supplementing a syringe of warm water in between feedings - need to space this out thoughtfully to avoid any stomach discomfort for the kitten although 1ml syringe of water a few times a day probably won't be too much of a risk. Here's a really inexpensive set that I've had luck with in the past. As far as stimulating, do it both around and directly. That's how mama cat would do it. The petroleum jelly helps things glide more smoothly which I think better mimics what mom would be doing. Good luck, really hoping for a positive update here. Sounds like you're doing a great job caring and giving it your all. Just don't forget that constipation at this age can escalate very quickly into a health emergency, so if no changes in the next day, I'd reach back out to the shelter or just bring him in ASAP. It can be fatal if they don't go (not trying to scare you).
