I don't know much about rat intros so I'll talk Abt the setup and share what I know. Please get a small plastic Carrier for pet visits. https://a.co/d/05sVTpRX something like this from Amazon. May need a bigger size if you have 4 rats. Fill it up with some bedding. Mine can't chew through it, and trust me they've tried. I don't know what you will use the Timothy hay for so I'll say this. just know rats cannot eat hay like a Guinea Pig. It's good secondary bedding though. Make sure you have 5+ different enrichment toys around the cage. At least two water bottles and even a small water dish that attaches to the cage bars. Ikea tie holders are great to put around the cage to climb on. Shower curtain hooks are great for hanging stuff. Lava ledges are also PERFECT for climbing, and it can help keep their nails down, do make sure to put them under water bottles. I put torn up pices of toilet paper all around the bottom and they like to grab the chunks and put it in hammocks/sleeping spots. Good free enrichment for them. For feeding, my rule is to put a handful of the oxbow food around the bottom of their cage and in toys per rat. It works for my girls, and they grew up healthy. Gerber puff stars make great treats, and ferret malt paste is like rat crack. They love it. If you don't know what treats to get them, look at some baby foods and look to see if rats can eat them. It's how i found some high value snacks, but just be really careful with sugar and fat. If you need help on YouTube, Emiology and Shadow the Rat on YouTube is where I got most of my info starting out. ^ ^
