I just had this and am struggling to get back to normal after 6.5 weeks. My big piece of advice is to get something like these sticky pads to be able to open jars, cans of cat foot, etc with one hand. This was the biggest irritant for my arm in the recovery. You won't be able to lift anything over a pound with that arm for 6 weeks at least, so stock up on smaller sized things, especially since you are getting surgery on your dominant arm. Follow the doctor's instructions, but after a week, you will start working to get back to full range of motion, just passively. Try to make it through one day without your arm and see where all the little inconveniences are going to be. It is amazing how much we do with both hands!
