I'm actually in the process right now on making a project of cheap items that could work for people in states with plug in solar. I'm testing in Colorado. I dont have all the data yet but if you want something that just works: Inverter (was 150 USD): (93% efficient after tests/ it actually stops all power transmission to outlet without grid power like most state laws require): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0H1RJC9CM?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title But it looks like they ran out of stock. Find something similar to this Solar panel (Bought for 260 USD): (kind of ass; said it was 400W but the most I can get out of it on a sunny day mid summer now is 310W) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DMSM7CPP?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 Disclaimer - I already have solar installed on my roof so I did not need to get a smart meter from the utility company. I will also be testing different balcony testing brackets and panel orientation to see when plug in solar may or may not be useful to people. Edit: Forgot to mention on a sunny day, with the panel facing south all day, at an angle of ~25 degrees, I'm making 1330 watt hours per day. Rough estimate is a savings of 70 dollars per year, or a pay off around 4 years, which isnt too bad.
