A bit late here, but I sympathize with making the most with what you've got without the budget or control to make real changes. I think the main issues are a bit of clutter and clashing color values and cool/warm tones. The location of everything can pretty much stay. I've made 3 different renderings with suggestions, based on budget levels: $0 Budget: The very easiest thing I'd recommend for $0 is to remove the grey area rug. If you're able to, hang the curtains a bit higher toward the ceiling. You should be able to get away with this without buying longer curtains because the bottoms are covered by the couch and desk anyway. This alone should help give a bit more breathing room: https://imgur.com/a/bvpeuSz <$100 budget: Swap curtains for a lighter, warm color so that there's more of a focus on the dark navy accent wall. The black furniture also competes with the navy accent wall. Consider swapping the coffee table to a wooden one with rounded edges to introduce a rounded edge into the room. Not as light as the bed frames, but not dark enough to clash with the wall. Check Facebook marketplace for secondhand options. This gives even more breathing room: https://imgur.com/a/9FatmZP >$100 budget: If you can't drill the projector into the ceiling, there are no drill options. Here are three on amazon: (1) (2) (3). For the 3rd one listed, you could even put on the coffee table in front of you and adjust the angle on the projector. Here is the room without the lamp, shelving behind the couch, with the projector mounted, and with the throw pillows with navy on each side (add that suggestion to the $0 budget, I'm not re-rending the pictures :) ) : https://imgur.com/a/NX9XKv2 This leaves all of the furniture for guests and works within the constraints of not being able to drill holes and keeps the budget low. If you want to add lighting back in, I think the Ikea orange donut lamp would look great above the desk: link. But that adds more to expenses, so your call.
